Differences Between Puppies and Dogs
Adopting a pet can be a life-changing experience. Your new furry friend will likely be your best buddy for life. Puppies require a lot of care as they are growing up, and some training. A dog boarding resort can be a great place for your puppy to learn some manners.
Puppy Behavior
Puppies love playing, and if you adopted more than one, you will likely notice how much they enjoy wrestling one another. You will probably experience some playful biting. Puppy teeth are sharp, so you may want to discourage this. Particularly young puppies, ones who are two or three months old, can be difficult to train and have a short attention span. They need to be watched closely, as they are not aware of the dangers around them, such as an oncoming car, or a growling dog three times their size. You shouldn't be surprised to find chewed up shoes underneath the bed, or your report needed for work shredded to pieces. This is why it's important to keep things up and away from your puppy's line of sight. Some training at a dog boarding facility can be beneficial for puppies and their owners.
Dog Behavior
Typically, once the dog is around two years old (or younger for some smaller breeds), they are considered to be adults. They are usually fully grown at this point, and have likely calmed down a bit. Chewing and nipping is less common, particularly if the dog has received some training. What's beneficial for the owner is that adult dogs are often more interested in their owners than puppies. While puppies love to play with you, they often see you as more of a toy or plaything. A fully grown dog can appreciate the companionship you provide as a person.
Both puppies and dogs make great pets. Bringing one into your home can lead to years of fun.
